Carlyle House Historic Park

Average review: 4.8 stars out of 5 stars.

Location: Old Town Alexandria

This colonial museum is a piece of art all its own.  With beautiful architecture, and stunning lawn design, you may think this is no place for families to head into on vacation, but you’d be wrong!  Interactive activities allow visitors to feel like they’ve stepped back in time to take in history firsthand.  Although this property makes many wish it was one of the many Alexandria houses for sale, it’s one of a kind.

Athenaeum

Average review: 4.8 stars out of 5 stars.

Location: on the Potomac.

This building looks like it came straight from ancient Greece, obviously inspired by the gorgeous architecture of the time.  The most fantastic thing about this space is that it’s rented out for many exhibits and events every month, so although many of them aren’t public, you still have the opportunity to enjoy new things whenever they are shared.  Taking pictures in front of this building alone can be fun to try and trick families into thinking you had a far more expensive vacation than a drive to Alexandria!

Every piece of this city falls together to create a fun and unique experience: you won’t want to leave once you visit!
