Family life is all about making memories. From the day our babies are born, we cherish every moment of our time together and are desperate to preserve the happiest memories and events. Sometimes it can be difficult to know how to store everything without covering your entire home with an abundance of pictures from every occasion imaginable! Here are a few tips to help creatively display family memories, without going overboard.
Create A Gallery Wall
When our babies are born, we instantly fall in love. Photographing their early days of life is something that we all instinctively want to do, in order to have those cute baby photos to look back on. Modern newborn photography is no longer restricted to a few standard shots. You can create themed photo shoots and chat with photographers about your own personal vision. These are after all, the pictures that you will hang on your walls for years to come.
Creating a gallery wall is a stylish and effective way to show off your pictures and make your home look great at the same time. You could choose a different theme for each. Perhaps some timeless black and white shots for the hallway walls and softer, warmer color pictures for the family room.
Themed Photo Albums
Create a chic photo album with different themes. You could make one for every family vacation and keep them beautifully lined up on a shelf, with decorative labels on the spine, detailing the contents. This is a great way to ensure that your photos stay catalogued and ordered as well as keeping them in perfect condition. You could end up with hundreds of books to look back on and it is a great way to get the whole family involved in choosing which pictures are added. If you want to take this idea one step further, you could even start your own family journals.
Make A Memory Box
When our children give us special notes, pictures or birthday cards that have been hand-made then we will always need somewhere to store them for years to come. Find yourand most will have a selection of excellent quality wooden boxes that are going to look wonderful and will last for years to come. Keep this in your bedroom and each time you find something with sentimental value, tuck it away in your memory box. When you feel low, this will make a great place to come and rummage through to cheer yourself up!
A great way to keep note of special events and meaningful dates or words is to find some decorative glass jars. Then simply gather some smooth, plain white pebbles and write (or paint) those all important names and dates on them. These look great when dotted around the home and collecting the pebbles is a fun family activity. You could even bring the pebbles back from a family vacation or day trip, to make your jars even more meaningful!
