SINGLE PARENTING by Kiran Singh

Being a single working mum is incredibly hard – financially and emotionally. It can be especially difficult when you try to be both mum and dad to your children. But studies show that children who are raised by one parent who is confident, loving and strong, are easily able to recognise – and appreciate - that person as the most important influence in their lives.
Children can easily survive without two parents, as long as they have one who is always there for them. That doesn't mean you have to be perfect to be a successful single mum. And you don't have to be both parents tied into one – not really.
Children get what they need from other people as well. What they need from you is a loving, central figure in their life, someone who is always there when they need it to love them and provide support and discipline.

Single Mums Dating

php/couple-kissing-moonlight-blue.jpg

Adding dating to your life as a single mom can be a challenge.  If you have made a decision to start dating, it is imperative that you have a good game plan before you begin finding Mr. Right or Mr. Fun (we’ll talk about that in a second). This weekend I changed Finn’s nappy on the pavement.

Yes – that’s 'The sidewalk’ for you American folks reading this.  Either side of the pond it’s no place to be changing a nappy.

And I didn’t just change the nappy on some secluded back street in the n’er do well part of town – oh no.  I had to do it in the part of town where everyone who strolls by and everyone who lives their life there, is perfect.  Their lives are perfect, their children are perfect – everything about them: is perfect.

Sure the odd thing might go wrong for them from time ...

How the Sometimes-Single you can strengthen your family relationship

php/New Picture (1)_1311076796.png

Have you ever observed your single, child-less friends? From a brief glance, you’ll  notice they splurge happily on the latest trends; they can often be found working out at the gym or stretching at a weekly Pilates class; and they have time to relax over a glass of Chablis with colleagues. Delve deeper and you’ll find painfully high stilettos, a fabulous little black dress and matching lacy underwear all ready for that just-in-case, last minute night out with the girls.

Taking time out to catch up with friends on a Saturday morning or going with them to see the latest chick-flick once in a while might give you the lift you need. An afternoon’s shopping on your own and the results of purchasing a matching lingerie set might lead to more excitement than pairing socks in front of the latest ITV dram. Taking advantage of ‘me time’.
